The ultimate Grass Roots drift macine!

Josh Estey's machine has its history.  Being in his possesion for the last 4 years, it has seen a few different versions.  If there is one thing we at JEM-Sport can say, it is that the latest edition is our favorite.  Josh purchased this car with a stock 1JZ Non-VVTi and a w58 transmission.  From there, the car slowly became a Link ECU controlled, 450hp, big single turbo 1JZ with a CD009, sick right?  A few peices of this puzzle that played a role into the Ecoboost-Swapped weapon the car is today.  In its current form, Josh's drivetrain consist of the following:

  • Airflow
  • Pulsar 3071 dual v band .82 a/r
  • ARC Enemy fab turbo elbow
  • Turbo-smart 38mm Wastegate
  • Mustang 2.3 intake manifold & throttle body
  • Ebay intercooler
  • Vibrant performance intercooler piping

All mounted up with JEM-Sport S13 Engine Mounts and trans mounts.  Being that Josh's car made 450hp before, he knew he wanted to push the limits further.  With a tight budget in mind, he decided to go with a built 1st Gen 2.0L Ecoboost capable of 600WHP as this option had a pricepoint not much higher than a stock Mustang 2.3L and allowed replacement cost to stay low.

This things a drift car right? lets dive into it.  Josh took us through the ins and outs of what makes this thing an "Ultimate grassroots drift machine".

Before we dive too deep into the parts list lets learn alittle bit about Josh's history in the drift scene!

" 9 years in and it feels like its only been 2 haha"

Being in the drift scene for the last 9 or so years has to have a ton of memeories right?  Josh took a second to highlight some of his favorite memories over the years.  Ever since the first day on track in 2016 its been a non stop hustle to figure out how to be at the track as much as possible.

"I street drove 2 hours there and back the first day and had no idea what to exspect.  When I got there, it was everything I could've dreamed for."

Fast forward a few years to 2019, Bobby's crew!

"Becoming a member of BC is the best thing that could've happened for me"

Josh told us how important it is to be on a team, not only for the driving side of things, but also for the guidance.  Without the team, Josh says he would not have been able to progress so fast on the track.   Without the knowledge, he wouldn't have been able to figure out how to make it all happen every weekend. 9 years later, he wouldnt change a thing.  Drifting is a way of life for Josh.
